Would you own a CC pistol without a saftey?

I ask this because I just recently purchased a Springfield Armory Hellcat pro. I really like the gun and shoot it well. But it doesn’t have a regular safety. I’m not sure how I feel about this. What do you guys think?

DA/SA is my choice.

You ll wish it didn’t have that safety when your life depends on it and it’s engaged

Glock introduced a new phrase to the pistol shooting world, "safe action trigger" soon accompanied by another phrase - "Glock Leg." :hide:

This is a photo of me at a recent CC class demonstrating the functioning of a Hi-Power manual safety :

It's 2024, get a Glock!
My bros own lots of handguns. I win most our "shoot outs" with his 40. I like it !

No. I guess I'm old fashioned. Sometimes I just carry in a front pocket. I wouldn't dream of carrying a semi-automatic pistol without a thumb safety in my pocket. To me, that trigger blade thing is just not enough and I've never been able to figure out how it could even be classified as a "safety". This has been debated on forums forever and for some strange reason followers of the Glock type trigger safeties seem radically defensive about it. The usual argument for these non-safety type pistols is that taking time to flick off a thumb safety could cost you your life. Personally, I'd rather take that risk other than risk shooting off one of my balls.

I carry a sig p245. No safety. Unholster, pull trigger, boom. Dont want to think about safetys in the time it takes something to turn south in a hurry

That's because those shooters were old HI-POWER shooters and were to stupid to keep their finger off the trigger!:hide::hide::eek:😁
He's telling them what not to do. Can't you understand Russian ?

Why would you not dis-engage the safety if your life depended on it.

OP, what do you think the (regular safety as you call it) going to prevent? Hundreds of thousands of pistols without a thumb safety are carried everyday without an accidental discharge.

If you're driving and a kid runs in front of your car do you think about braking - I don't, I'd just do it.

Think about the safety ? Do you think about pulling the trigger or do you just do it ? Speaking for myself I don't think about taking the safety off and I don't think about pulling the trigger - I just do it and it comes from carrying and shooting Hi-Powers for 24 years and five years of I.D.P.A. competition.

No sense in wasting a half a second.
No wasted time at all. I can get my HP out of the holster and the safety is off long before my sight picture is acquired and I guarantee as fast if not faster than you can draw whatever pistol you shoot.

Because those that maybe don’t train enough or had those real life experiences will possibly get very nervous under the pressure and forget to do that. Thus costing them their life. That’s why.
