i have read on here recently and heard from fellow fishermen here in town that wd-40 works as a good lure scent? is this true? never heard of this until yesterday!

Funny... I have been keeping a can of WD-40 in my boat for about 25 years... been inspected by the coasties and the sherrif on more than one occasion and have never had an issue. This is 100% Illegal. You even get caught with that in your box or boat you going to get a ticket. Its like dripping your lure in oil,Mich
Wow, fish can detect human scent?!If nothing else, it covers up your human scent.
Ok so if found in your fishing box or on person when fishing your busted.I would just do the right thing and not use this to catch fish. There are lots of products out that you can try.Do the right thingWD-40 is no more illegal to have on your boat than the oil in the motor is. It is illegal to intentionally put it in the water. It is also apalling that anyone would be so desperate to catch fish that they would intentionally pollute the water to do so. An ounce of oil fouls thousands and thousands of gallons of water.
Yep, the emissions are regulated by law. Just like the asinine act of spraying a lure with hydrocarbons and dropping it in the water is covered by law, the law makes the act ILLEGAL.doesnt the motor on your boat burn oil and inter the water out the prop![]()
Not hitting you personally Michigander, but....Ok so if found in your fishing box or on person when fishing your busted.I would just do the right thing and not use this to catch fish. There are lots of products out that you can try.Do the right thing,Mich btw i have never use wd40 even in my life on a boat motor.Im sure there are reasons too.But i never found 1 yet
For one thing your not spraying reel oil on a lure. And for useing to get blood off your boat. If your useing this too do it its not a good thing over all.Heck water and brush and some elbow. What i would do is CAMO that sucker out and not worry to much about the bloodNot hitting you personally Michigander, but....
RED: Not true. If it were... the reel oil I keep in my bag would get me busted also, it's worse than WD-40 for oil content.
Blue: Ever have the starter on your outboard NOT turn the motor over? One shot of WD-40 will almost always fix this issue. Got a squeaky pedastal seat? Fixed. It also is great to get fish blood off the aluminum gunwhales of my Tracker (unpainted aluminum). But I have NEVER put it IN the water.
:yikes:This is 100% Illegal. You even get caught with that in your box or boat you going to get a ticket. Its like dripping your lure in oil,Mich
I would for one not run a outboard in a pond.To me that just dumb. And for Capsizing a boat.I hope it never happens to ya.I had a 28 ft boat on Grosse Ill that went down.Cops came to my door with the DNR.It was docked.Came all the way up to the carb before it bottomed out.Intake was above the water line. They walked me down to the boat. They seen what i seen and said if it drops below the fuel cap i will be in big trouble.I jumped in to try to pump it out.DNR told me Hey try to fire it up:yikes:
I suppose I better try running my engine without oil next time on the pond. Better yet, without any fuel in the tank! Or leaving my emergency tools in the garage as well. I mean hell, it just takes a capsizing, and BAM! Instant lake litter. Right?
Possession of WD-40 and using it for fish attractant or putting it in the water are two different things altogether.
I wonder if my wife could be ticketed if she had lipstick in her purse while on the lake.
Copper is poisonous to almost everything and Lord knows I have plenty of copper wiring running all through that sucker.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll be selling my boat now. What didn't know how illegal it actually was to own one!
Off topic but yes I did. request granted.Seems it's too late Mike. Sorry. Hey, did you get my PM a couple hours ago??
