That was our exact experience in 12ft. And judging by the 20+ people I have talked to yesterday, the same thing from 8ft to 24ft from the Sag river mouth to the Pine. Lol

 

I am hesitant to leave where we have been consistent off of last night, just because it was one of those nights. BUT we might send it deep too, been bouncing the shallows for a couple weeks, problem is buddies going deep haven't shown me any reason to justify it.

 

We got the edge of the channel and then Leap frogged from there to 14’. Started marking in 16’ but no takers. Set the tent up and started drink… I mean jigging. Will update as the day gets longer.

 

Marked a lot more fish today than yesterday. Last truck in the lot!!! Buddy put one on ice just as it got dark. Wind was blowing pretty good covering up the trails otw back in.

Jason looks like you guys had a good time, did your son ever get out with you ? How was traveling around out there? I'm on med"s now hopefully not long. Tight lines and keep your stick in the water.

 

He never made it up, he is pissed! Hope you feel better and can get out soon. We didn’t catch anything today between 5 of us. Fished as deep as 25’, marked but couldn’t get them to go. Traveling out there was easy with a snowmobile.

 

An update from the first day and a half.

Fished three straight days out of the state park from Wednesday-Friday. Later starts all three days but stayed out past dark, especially Thursday not getting back to the truck until 1015. Thursday was our most productive day seeing and catching (only 1 fish 🤣) fishing in 16-19’ of water.

Friday we had a couple more people, 5 total so we were able to spread out a little more and cover more water/ice, didn’t help. Met a guy from the west side of the state who even gave us numbers in the parking lot, really appreciate that. Still a fun time getting a couple of newbies on the bay with one being a great kid that I’ve coached baseball for years. His first time ice fishing and riding a snowmobile. This day we went as deep as 25’ but only marked fish in 23’ on a semi consistent basis. Last night I was cursing the ice and wishing for boating season and ready to dump all of my ice fishing gear. Today as I type I’m trying to scheme my next trip to the bay.
Only negative we had other than not catching anything yesterday. Buddy and I are fishing about 25 yards apart, just far enough to have a conversation. We see a snowmobile approaching, solo and think maybe it’s the dnr coming to check us out. Nope, some clown wearing orange camo split my buddy and I and keep heading for deeper water. Nobody around us! Maybe he was looking for his buddy’s, who knows but unacceptable in my book. Hoping to get out soon, couple of non fish pics.

 

Looked like a good time.

 

Also found this in the state park parking lot Friday morning. Looked like it might have been there over night.

 

Put more effort into fishing and less into toys if you want to do well. Harsh but JMO
