I have a Dickinson 16ga SxS with English Stock, Double Trigger, 28in with choke tubes. I do like the English stock...Beautiful gun that I hunt pheasant with. Bought 28ga inserts that I am going to try this spring for Trap, and with any luck I am going to try Sporting Clays to get used to that 2nd trigger as I have been an O/U owner for 25 years. My woodcock gun is a Citori Featherweight 20ga w/ 26in barrels + choke tubes. I will say I shoot that Citori better than any gun I have other than an old Spanish 12ga SxS I inherited many years ago that is single trigger. It is very light and can be a bear to shoot many rounds due to recoil.

I have a bunch of shotguns.
It is probably premature for you to consider a custom gun.

I shoot straight grip guns best in dynamic shooting situations, tight, woods, brush, etc.
The Macnaughton above is for woodcock.
Pistol grip for longer shot situations. Open country, driven birds, etc.
The Miroku does that for me
Target games are best played with pistol grip and beaver tail forend.

Prince of Wales (being semi open) is a nice compromise.
Quite elegant looking.

I can’t get a bunch of shotguns. I am lucky to be able to have 2. I’m interested in the custom because it would be a cool handmade gun and I can’t just buy any old shotgun off the rack. My short arms and bad shooting arm elbow (can’t full straighten it) means that youth guns fit me. Youth guns have 24” barrels and I already have that length on my semiauto.

Custom stocking is but a small part of a custom shotgun.
I have a bad wrist.
Recoil sends sharp pains up my forearm.
Semi-Pistol, Woodward, POW, all really help with that.
Vertical grip? No way.

The current range for vertical pistol grips, migrating over from the tactical crowd, I think, is really counterproductive for a side-by-side with double triggers.

Best competition sxs for budget is a Browning BSS
Then a restocked model 21 Winchester
Then the Perazzi

Bubbas hate it because the stock is uppity while purists hate it because...well, Remington, for starters, but it's so wrong it's right. Perhaps the best 870 they ever made. I have both 21" and 23" factory RemChoke barrels for it.
