Seriously, make sure you know what you are talking about before you post something critical about someone and make yourself look like an idiot. Legal shooting hours on the 16th started at 6:54 in Time zone A, 7:00 in Time zone B and 7:06 in Time zone C.

You may want to take a look at the hunting guide.

And if he is in zone C then he is a poacher, twice! Like I said, maybe he was East of me. Don't know how I look like an idiot for making a correct observation.

How likely do you think it is that he was in Zone C? I'd say not very.

Since his shot was legal in almost all of the State, given the time it took place, why would you jump to the conclusion that it occurred in the small portion of the state that has a later legal shooting time? Makes no sense to call someone a poacher without having definite knowledge that a violation occurred and in this case there is no indication that one did.

I took a doe opening evening. She had at least 1 fawn with her and he was a button buck. I won't kill a button buck. Most fawns can make it just fine without their mother.

That being said, I saw yesterday morning a mature doe with another fawn, had to be the smallest fawn I have seen this late in the year. I doubt the fawn weighed mode than 50 lbs and still had slight spots visible. That doe will get a pass. The other two fawns I saw with the doe I took, I saw them both yesterday and side by side with the tiny one. They were 40% larger. It also depends where you are at, some areas of the state it is not wise to take them both, probably better to take the fawn and leave the mother.

I just heard on the police scanner that there is a state-wide APB out for "Baby Girl's", little brother.

That dude is gonna fry when catch that dirty SOB!!
LOL, now that's funny. I heard something similar on the scanner, except it was an APB for a guy on MS for impersonating a CO!

I have no problem having the "family" over for dinner! Great job BG Bro!:coolgleam

Here is my thought on shooting doe fawns. For the first year all they do is eat and take up food . Some will get bred later in the year depending on conditions. The mature breeding does are the ones to let go and pass on the genetics. Doe fawns are renewable resorce that taste mighty good. Sure there is not much meat but all one needs to do is take more of them in areas where the doe population is in need of being thinned out. I think if more people took the doe fawns and left the breeder does to breed the herd would be much stronger. Of course i am no biologist this is just my take on it though.

I checked the book and we were legal from 6:54am on in Jackson county....these internet cops are really annoying.....and all of them smell like donuts thru my usb port :dizzy:

My brother and i were out yesterday and @7:02 i hear a gun shot from his stand, a few minutes later another ....i'm calling him on the radio and nothing, so i started to text him and a 1/2 hour later he responds with "i shot a doe and the yearling that was with her"

Now , let me ask you ms peeps. Did he do the right thing by shooting both ( he had 2 doe tags) or should he have let the yearling go (which by the way was pretty big to begin with) so it might survive in the woods alone and possibley hook up with another part of the herd.

Would you shoot the doe with the yearling or pass?

This is state land btw

I might be missing something, how do you get multiple doe permits for state land? Is this new?

rut-roh shaggy....

maybe one in the drawing and one over the counter?

I'm not an internet cop, but depending on where you were in Jackson, did you add the 6 minutes? (you were still legal) I say this to maybe save you a problem later as I hunt Jackson County.

I haven't read all 3 pages. But as some on the first page said, I am assuming he shot a doe and her fawn, not yearling.

I have done it in the past. I'm sure I will do it again in the future.

Fawns represent the largest age class. There are more fawns born than are need to replace adult mortality. Fawns are going to be the first deer to die in winter. There is not a biological reason not to shoot fawns. Congratulations to your brother.

Stand in line at any sporting good sales the day they go on sale. I bought two @ 15.00 each. The leftover quota for Midland county was 500+. There were 30 guys standing behind me. My BIL went in at 2:30 Pm and bought 2. Do you think they sold more than 500? My guess is they sold a few thousand over the quota.

In ID I recently shot the younger of two deer. I Had a huge doe standing in front of me. The youngster May or may not make it through the winter. Here it is very questionable. We get lots of snow. Wolves are in the area, long legs make a big difference. I shot the youngest of the 2, and feel good about it.
