He seemed pretty timid - although fat and didnt look hungry is more like it.. Sure wouldnt want anyone to step on this! Or their kids! Awareness that they are in the woods is the beginning.. Avoidance is next! LOL

For those of you who may not know this snake, it is a [SIZE=+1]Massasauga Rattlesnake - Michigans only venemous snake!

I didn't even know michigan had venemous snakes I would have guessed water mocassin not rattle snake. I am from FL which has a little bit higher population of poiseness snakes I just moved up to MI 2 years ago but if these snakes are anything like the ones in FL then they will get out of your way 90% of the time before you even see them.

I would have a heart attack, not knowing that they are in the area

I'm supposed to go to south texas in March and i was told to get some snake chaps, if I plan to go outside of the house.. That is going to be fun, because I hate snakes and Am not to happy with the thought of them out there but what can you do, if you are in there back yard

I Hate Snakes, last week there was a little 6 inch snake with an orange belly in the barn. I'm sure it was harmless , but I chopped it up into about 4 pieces with the shovel. Did I already say I Hate snakes
That is what you do to them.
I do a LOT of hunting in W.Va., biggest so fer was a little under 4ft, 13 rattles and a button, head close to the size of my palm of my hand, (I'm 6' 195lb), and his boby was close to the diameter of my forearm. Probly 7+ lbs. Later that week we killed 3, between 2 and 3 ft. (my son who was 6 at the time, my dad and I), after dark, at our campsite, by the lite of the fire. Climbed in the truck early that nite. I hate them also. Once bitten, is all it takes and you will hate them too
