Those Walleye Nations Creations slow death rigs with the single and treble hooks, are a definite improvement to that type of lure. I've tried other slow death designs in the past and they never really impressed me compared to other rigs, side by side. You do have to keep the speed pretty slow for them though, with 1.4-1.5 being about the max and you also have to watch for currents when factoring in that max running speed. The east side of the Bay tends to have more noticeable currents compared to the rest of the Bay for some reason. I think those WNC rigs will be great during the spring, so I'll be trying them in May for sure.

I am a big fan of slow death rigs. Glad I saw your video. Thanks for posting. I just purchased about every color walleye nation offered. Can’t wait to try them out. Had great success with white, red and black tiger stripe color. Love running them from captains chair in front of boat with bottom bouncers off both sides next to boat. Plus had a great seat to watch boards go back. Tight lines!

Another tidbit from that video was rigging the boards to release, which I never do on my boat. When you are trolling fairly slow, it is an especially bad idea. I was overruled at first that day because everybody else on board generally uses that technique. When we lost about a dozen fish right after tripping the boards, we changed up tactics to constant pressure and then the losses nearly stopped.

I've never had a problem losing fish by popping the board to release. I like just a single hook harness with 1/4 crawler. Hooking the piece of worm "whacky" rigged with tge ends fkzppjng like a wiggler works great. And with a single hook in the fishes mouth there's non to untangle from net. :)

Most of the places he goes to are just typical fishing spots around Michigan. Hs success rate is high largely due to him partnering up with local guides and also the fact that John is a very accomplished fishermen himself. When he fished the PWT, he was one of the top money winners every year.

I agree Ralph. I didn't want to be the first to go against the grain but also it's crazy this many people have had problems loosing multiple fish? If your popping the boards correctly it's a SLIGHT pop to the side when taught, jus popping out the front clip and slack adding no extra tension. I have seen people pop them like they are trying to release a downrigger so I would assume that's where the problems lie.
