The email you received contains the pdf of the license as part of the receipt. It's usually the second page of the pdf. You should print it off and keep it with you. You may also keep the email receipt on your phone and use that as your base license assuming you keep your phone with you and the battery is charged. I prefer to print it out.

 

Yup i store the pdfs in a folder on my phone. I also printed the base license and shrunk it down a little. I then kind of laminated it with some clear packing tape. ....i always end up getting my eallet wet in my waders each season.

The DNR only mails kill tags. Everything else purchased online must be printed.

 

This is kind of a mute point, because no way would you have a kill tag if you didn't purchase the base license, the system won't let you do it.
But take a picture, save the email, and download the PDF and you'll have all of the bases covered.

 

Yeah that, normally one can’t get any ‘kill tag’ until you buy the base license.

 

You only need the kill tag in hand. Online purchased licenses are saved to your profile. You dont even need the email, just makes it easier

I was checked duck hunting. Officer made me show base license even though i showed him a waterfowl license which i needed a base license to be able to buy. I showed him a michigan waterfowl license with migratory bird survey and federal migratory bird stamp attached. He then asked for my base license. It wasnt a big deal because i had it in my wallet. It was seperate because I bought it in the spring when i bought my turkey tag.
