hey welcome aboard nate.one of the most popular spots is indy bridge in b.c.,upstream from there is hooters.you might cross river on i75,zilwaukee bridge, thats known as hog alley.another area that I would lean towards is the river mouth, shipping channel that is accessed of Patterson dnr launch.there is a sticky at top of page that shows fishing locations and bait shops.good luck, keep your line tight.

if you never fished the river i would not bring a machine as it is not needed .alot of on river parking anywhere along m13 you can pull over and fish .. the spots John said to give a try is spot on.. excellent starting points ,i would add independence bridge / liberty bridge..cheyboygan creek.area ...zville ..welcome to the site and i hope you have a great fishing trip...

Some people just like to bash others and not contribute to the site.

no problem once ya get use to the areas people are talking about youll be better off .. look at a river map and find the locations we have given and pick one ..i would start at indy bridge fish the edge of the ship docked there ..have ya some raps and buckshots and some regular jigs and you should be set.. i like fishing that area as ya get fish just coming into the river system..that area gets real good right before the river closes on the 15th.. good luck hope we helped ya..

Not a problem but really you have to be in right spot at that time or you might not get anything. They are all over the river just pick a spot and dont be afraid to move around. Also we have a morning bite from daylight to nine or ten then late bite three to dark. Sometimes i have had good school start at one to two just depends if they are feeding.

Biggest thing is to stay as vertical as possible. #5 & #7 blu/chrome and firetiger raps are a good start. Use a braided line in 6-8 lb test.helps with current.
1/4 to 1/2 oz jig heads with stinger hooks.
Just look for people and fish away from the pack.
