she is wearing a red stripe late 60's maybe 1970,,,
what is your location?
I thought I remember the "red stripe" version was the early-mid seventy's? We had a 65hp that had the silver band, Dad bought that one new in 1965 or 66.

Shotgunner do you have the old lower unit and parts becuse I have had great luck haveing them welded and the shafts reworked then you know it's right . if you just buy a use lower unit it will only be about 10 cents better then the one you had. old merc's input and prop shafts are not stainless steel and are only heat treated with a chothing . so some ones used one will also need the same work. so fix the one you have. P.s its a 1967 to 1970's motor if you care to know the year.

Merc. went to a blue stripe in the very early 70's if you pull the numbers off the ID tag or the welch plug I can nail down the year if you like..,,,as far as a lower for it I know I got nothing for you but you could try giving Bill Rose a call,,586-716-9600 he may have something for ya.

TONGA, thanks for the help. i'll get over there & look for the I.D. tag. not sure what a welch plug is?

hopefully get something lined out for spring. SG

the welch plug is a round plug that is put it the engine case itself,,,it is about the size of a quarter and looks a lot like a freeze plug in a car engine,,,it will have the same numbers stamped in it as the ID tag,,,so if the Tag is missing or you cant read it you can pull off the engine cover and pull the numbers off the welch plug
