Had my best sit of the season and first good pass. Had 3 bucks running around breaking branches, then come right under me. First snort wheeze I've seen that close. Definitely got me fired up and had a clean exit which made it even better. I think I'm finally in hunting mode. Haven't really been feeling it this season yet.

I've gotten pretty good over the years so several friends call when they shoot something. Was getting worried on this one, mostly just following tracks with the occasional speck across a cut bean field. Stopped running when he hit the woods and then it got a lot easier.

Walked in on some Barry Co. public tonight. Figured I'd just drive around and scope it out, but of course I took my stuff. Most of the turnouts had cars in them or heavy sign of previous hunters, but I was able to get off the beaten path a bit and decided to go find some brush to stand in for the last 2 hours. Ended up bumping a few does about 200yds from the car on a transition from thick undergrowth to a wide open oak flat, and decided to setup over a dried creek bed just inside the cover with tracks in it. Didn't see anything else until the last minute of shooting light (unsure what it was) , but I was pleasantly surprised at what I saw and where I saw them. Definitely will give it another go earlier in the day and further in with a bit more scouting. First time on public in like 25 years when I convinced my dad to take me out when I was in grade school. This is my only real option for a quick after work hunt given where I live.

It was a nice evening yesterday.Had to draw back twice on her, she busted me but gave me a shot at 20 yards.
