Just driving around my block done hunting but saw 11 toms about 100yds off road some my be jakes but saw 6 full fans.Guess lots left no hens might hunt in fall

 

Woke up at 3am, let out the dogs, hit the road at 3:45, got to my parking spot at 4:50. Suited up hiked into a property I have not hunted yet. Went right to where they roosted last year…nothing. Have not seen or heard a turkey. This spot was loaded last spring. Makes me wonder if someone else also has permission for this property. Beautiful morning though.

I had ‘exclusive permission’ on a large farm in CT one spring. I hunted traditional spots the first few days of the season and then hunted it hard, had some good hunts but nothing like I expected.

Found out on the last day of the season the owner allowed 3 hunters from Massachusetts to hunt it for a rather large fee, told them 1 other guy was hunting it.

Those basturds shot 8 toms those first 2 days - 1 with 3 beards and 1 with double spurs. So yeah, it could definitely be other hunters, and from my experience some hunters have no concerns about future bird populations.

Yep lots of idiots out there.wish I had a dollar for every idiot I saw in 60 years hunting and fishing I’d have lot of money

 

Runnin and gunning today. Called in 2 toms to 80 yards but couldn't close the deal. This little guy followed me for about 50yards too. Will try again tomorrow
