Ope. Another county gobbler.

 

All set up and ready with my 8yo son. Hoping for a little turkey cooperation this morning. He's up to bat! Fingers crossed. Good luck to all those out this morning.

Out on public this morning. Hearing a Tom gobbling down the ridge I’m set up on. Was in here yesterday afternoon talking with him but he won’t come closer than 80 yards.

 

Hmmm the great turkey debate. Stay patient or try to cut the distance lol

 

We are in the same spot as yesterday am. My son heard 2 distant gobbles that I couldn't hear. I planned to go to a different spot but we got up late.

 

Out in Newaygo with my son. Several Tom’s gobbling on the roost a ways off but quiet for the past half hour. If my three day rotation is correct, they should be much closer tomorrow. Beautiful morning in God’s creation nonetheless

 

Some early gobbles then silence after sun up…lotsa deer moving and geese are noisy…nice and still, beautiful morning, gotta be patient….good luck.

 

Sounds just like my morning. Had 3 different birds gobbling on the roost, and haven't heard anything from them since. Geese won't shut up. And I think I've seen 10 deer so far. Forcast is saying I've got about an hour and a half before the sky opens up on us.

 

We saw 7 birds yesterday. One of then less than 10 feet away, directly behind us. The rest were way out of range.

 

My ground is really wet this year so I’m fighting that. The birds are staying in higher ground these days.

 

3 birds gobbling on roost then they gobbled going opposite direction. Off to grab some gas and food and try plan b then c

 

Just got to my truck myself. Not sure where I’ll go from here.

Had THE best morning ever in the turkey woods this morning and I never pulled a trigger. I took my nephew and brother hunting and they doubled up on big toms. The best part is they did it with my nephews 1st self bought gun, a 20 ga Winchester pump. He was itching use his shiny new gun and it did the job! He passed a group of 5 then 2 Jake’s waiting for a long beard and he was rewarded with two. They came into the decoy offering him a 25 yard shot then he handed the gun to his uncle and he shot the second tom. We got most of the hunt on video.

After a good morning, i slipped out for a couple minutes... Tucked in a cedar swamp they most likely eont come through if there not where I'd assume they are 2/3 of a mile across the propertyadd, while running a call i can't run...

The ten minutes I've run this box setting here is more than I've run a box the past thirty years combined and wondering if a gobbler hears it whether he will even recognize it as a turkey.. The screw holes stripped so paddle pressure is manual like a turpin which I've never played. Left everything besides.my crow at home.to avoid temptation

Should probably hede my own advice I tell new callers that play a call for.me and ask how.much should I call, "just enough to let them know there's a hen" Knowing dang well the more they call the lower the chances of success are and be better off praying.... Today I am that guy...

Called in two turkeys, turkey vultures circking.. Probably heard the skawking outta the box and figured their next meal.was taking its last breath
