Another thread got me to thinking about all the "gadgets" I've tried in my hunting career.
BWHNTR mentioned the - Game Tracker
I mentioned the -Lighted pin (sight)
What are some of the gadgets you've tried that are taking up space in your garage, sold at a garage sale, or thrown in a lake out of frustration?

Lighted pin (sight)

A friend gave me a light that fit my sight. I took one shot at the target and noticed how noisy it was. Tinkered with it, shot another arrow, same noice caused by vibration. It's not taking up space in my garage, but it's in my basement somewhere.;) While my sight looked "cool" when the light was on, I probably wouldn't be able to positively identify what I was shooting if it was dark enough that I had to use it. Even if I did fix the vibration it would still be condemed to the basement.

Same problem I had, plus it made the pins too bright to see past them!!

Is the compound bow considered a gadget? ;):)

Seriously, I used game trackers in the old days. We had string criss-crossing all over our property. It was tough to pick up.

I bet many have old over-draws collecting dust somewhere.

The Jon-E handwarmer sales aren't what they used to be either.

I pitched the lighted sight as well. Could see the pins great in low light, just not what was behind it.

Others I've tried and probably won't use again:
Plastic rattling antlers
Scrape dripper
Whiskerbiscquit (actually worked fine, just got sick of destroying fletchings)
Aftershock Hypershocks

How funny

I just came across one these gadgets the other day..

For many years my dad and I used a rubber sling that attached to both limbs on my bow..
Worked great for carrying and it stayed on while shooting..When shooting it actually pulled the bow back into your hand and help hold back bulky clothing..

I'll have to dig that thing out take a few pics and get the name off it..

I honestly still have the Game Tracker at home buried deep in the cabinet. I am willing to let it go at a "better than" garage sale price. :D willing to let the flouresent orange string to go with it.:lol::lol:

Help me out here Big T..........................

Unfortunately, I haven't had my recurve (Martin Dream Catcher) out in a couple years. One of these days I will take a deer with it however.

Then there was the one-wheel game cart contraption. I can't believe I have never used this though! Maybe next year? :D

Another "can't believe I never used this" would be my gambrel hoist....

How about those umbrellas that attached to your tree above your hanging stand? One of my hunting buddies had one of those.

Had a scentdripper once, it got stolen, never replaced it.

Still waiting for someone to develop a projector-based holographic moving decoy.

QDMAMAN mentioned the baker climber; one of my buddies had that one. How about the "bucksy" hangon? I know a guy that still hunts from one, and there's another permanently attached to a black cherry tree in my woods, hunted out of by the previous owner - the tree has now grown completely over the chain.

Absolute worst hangon stand I ever saw was the api alumilock, circa 1991. Not only did it creak and groan without warning, but the padded seat was sort of a whoopee cushion, and gave off an audible "whoooosh" when you removed your weight from it. Gave mine to a friend, and he tossed it the first time that seat noise cost him a doe.

jonnie hand warmers - used those before I learned about scent elimination. they didn't stay lit that long for me anyhow

cough silencer - I used to smoke and would have to hack sometimes in the woods. it did not work.

I never take the old fawn in distress can into the woods with me either . . .
