I purchased a bunch of high end fishing poles at an estate auction and I would like to sell a few that i know i will never use ... just need to clean them up ... i saw a post a while back on removing the baked on minnow scales and have used the search feature with no luck .i searched for hours manually with no luck. Can anyone help me out?

You know I've tried everything on my perch rod, except re-hydrating. Never occurred to me. Will try it.
Once you rehydrate it and wipe them off, if it has a cork handle, try a good old fashioned magic eraser (the kind the kids used to use in school). Works great to make cork handles nice and like new again!
I would imagine letting a product like simple green sit on it would help, too. I don't THINK it would damage anything but I always hesitate to use chemicals on my gear if water will work.

Gotta leave them scales on there! That's good juju and Lord know we all need some of that! I got scales all over the fore grip of my St. Croix and they will be on there forever as a memory of great fishing trips.
