hey for those of you who toss spinners and spoons for steelhead now that steelhead season is here, Do you find one color swivel works better then the other? i mean i use crane swivels mainly on my spinners and spoons, but jesus you go to a tacle shop or walmart you see the black ones AND you see the stainless steel ones, Which color is best? i wanna say the black ones because they wont spook the fish? same with the everyday snap swivels, should i use the black ones and stay away from the shiny stainless steel ones? also when tossing say a number 3 vibrax, should i use a size 5 or 7 snap or crane swivel in what color swivel?

also when putting on split rings on spoons, again should i use the black split rings OR the stainless steel ones?

I've used both, and brass terminal stuff, for over 40 yrs., and in low/clear water I still prefer the black ones although I believe the advantage is miniscule. What does seem to make a difference is size...........use the smallest that will do the job and no more.
Split ring on spoons.......I've always just used the stainless/nickel ones with no problems, again using the smallest size that will do the job.
