I have heard the same locally. They are anticipating writing aggressively and are working with prosecutors and judges to see larger fines levied. I believe the baiting enforcement emphasis is coming from higher up in the DNR. There maybe a push to consider a deer shot over bait to be poached which would increase penalties many times over.I heard from a CO they will be much more aggressive prosecuting baiting violations in 2019. The parties over folks.

I know some times various entities utilize the same flight. Drug flights and DEQ sometimes combine with DNR and some private pilots give CO's coordinates.Good question.
Christmas Eve, almost no one hunting at this time of year compared to 1 month ago and the DNR is going to send up a plane to look for bait ? I think this is very unlikely.
Does the DNR own plane(s) ? How many ?

It is a felony federally and is punishable by fine and up to 20 yrs in prison. What's the fine for shooting a drone down ?

Federal courts ruled on it in Boggs vs meredith.

Cause the DNR had a truck about 200yds down and across the river from me looked like they where standing on a dock. It wouldn't have pissed me off so much if they had the drone 100ft away instead of 20ft directly over head. I should have launched a spoon at it and reeled it in. Next time they do that I will definitely paddle right over to them to see what's going on.What makes you think it was a DNR drone? Chances are, it was just someone playing with their toy.
If it was the DNR, and they're comfortable that you're not violating from afar, it's less intrusive than them pulling up boat side.

I'm sure the officers and pilot make double time maybe even triple time on the holiday so they probably love doing this on Christmas eve.Good question.
