Good luck in your search. Just to get the juices flowing, this is a public land buck my father shot in Winterfield Twp many years ago. Maybe a great, great, gradnson is still out there!

Clare County (wife has a cabin there)

I believe Clare county is mostly private land and you may want look into driving a little bit north of there to Roscommon county. Lots of state land.

 

Is Roscommon a CWD county? That's why I left Mecosta - too much red tape

 

I hunt public land in one CWD county. I haven’t thrown in the towel yet although I do have a few back ups in case the herd gets bad. Will be interesting to see how it does with the new regs in the next 3-5 years. I don’t hunt mecosta or Clare so no info there. Good luck finding new ground.
