If you guys are having trouble with line digging in, there are two ways around this. A combination of both would be best. First is spool your reel under tension. My line spooler has a tension setting. On that, I use a scale and set it to 2lb, then wind my line on to the spool. Second is proper drag setting. It should be set to 1/4 the strength of your leader. On an 8lb leader I run 2lb of drag. It doesn't sound like a lot, but I assure you it's plenty. Line dig usually happens when the drag is set too tight. The spool isn't rotating as easy letting line out when a fish runs. A cheap spring scale will help set your drag. Relying on setting by hand is woefully inaccurate and results in a lighter than needed drag setting initially, which in turn causes one to turn up the drag mid fight. My usual working line is #1.0 YGK X-braid, 22lb with a diameter of 4lb mono. For reference, 20lb Power Pro is 0.235mm diameter, the same as 8lb mono.

I prefer PowerPro, I try other line but keep coming back, I use 20lb and only one time had a problem with it digging in because I did a poor job loading it. I use it on both the baitcaster & spinning reels.
