Biggest Buck to Date -12 Point- Story

Late season archery has been good to me so far this year. I harvested my biggest buck to date; a really nice 12 point on December 3rd in south east Michigan. I had a pretty good idea where he was bedding. I had him on camera multiple times at night with only 2 daytime photos around 5pm in November. I made my mind up to hunt this deer only during December and put a stand up where I suspected his travel route to be in the evening. The evening was quiet and a hadn't seen a deer yet when I heard a twig snap behind my right shoulder. I slowly turned and saw a deer approximately 40 yards behind me in some thick stuff. At first I didn't know it was him until he cleared some brush and took a few more steps; that's when I caught a glimpse of his rack and I knew it was him. He stood completely still for a while and behind me in some thick brush broadside. He looked up and away from me and I decided to spin around in my treestand while I grabbed my bow. I was able to lean around the the tree to the right side in preparation for him to take a few steps forward. He stayed put for what felt like forever as I tried to stay as calm as I could. He ended up taking a few steps closer toward me and turned broadside again at approximately 35yds. I steadied and let the arrow fly. He kicked, and I lost sight of him at about 80 yards. I never heard him crash or go down, which worried me a bit. I sat back down and what a flood of emotions!! Just arrowed the largest deer Ihave ever had in front me. I climbed down and found my arrow with good blood. I went back to the house and waited an hour and half. Went back out with my brother in law to begin tracking. Followed a good blood trail right to him. The shot was a little higher and farther back than I would have liked as he went a couple hundred yards. 12 point. He broke his right split brow and his left G2; would have been a 14 point if he didn't break them off, but I'm not complaining...I'll take the 12 all day! Great day in the deer woods. Had my wife, 2 boys, dad, sister, and brother in law there for the recovery!
