TPK, The Hammer breed hounds I have hunted with seemed to be **** dogs. I hunted with one of Dave Deens handlers out of Millington years ago, (he was running a bitch dog that he was getting ready to breed to one of his number dogs). She was a nice little hound that loved to get treed. She had a nice bawl on track and a good switch over on tree, if I remember correctly she was about a 100 barks or so a minute on the wood. The only problem I remember (if I'm remembering the right hunt) was she got beat out because of a possum otherwise she would have won the cast.
Willards hounds always seem to get the job done. I know he gets lots of ***** with his hounds and usally comes back with +points in the night hunts. He was running a little male the night I hunted with him named Cub, he would get off and get treed on every drop. He did just like Willard said he would he went hunting and found a ****, his only fault I seen was he came into the little walker female that got hung up on a fence and started treeing but the other dog in the cast also came back to her so you never can tell. Like Willard said they are just dogs so its never a good idea to brag on them.
Dave, I live about the same distance now as his old house. I actualy meet Joe years ago we where watching the red wings in a local watering hole and I noticed he was wearing a Bluetick hat. I had just had a littler of pups (out of a Jet 5 breed female I owned and HillbillyBlueBro) and struck up a conversation with him to see if he would be intrested in a pup. We have keep in touch over the years and I really liked that Mudd dog he had and told him I wanted a pup out of him. He called me that fall he lost Mudd and told me if I still wanted a pup I would have to come over and pick one out as he only had 2 or 3 and they would be the last ones. I picked a little female that I called Scream she was a well put up hound (like all of Joe's seem to be) I just didn't do her justice. I know the last time I asked about her she was running with the pack as a 3year old it was her first year in the bear woods. That tells you how long ago I was running hounds.
