I'm not a varmit hunter so bear with me. Last night well after dark I took the dog outside to do her business and looked out in the yard and seen a red fox just hauling the mail across my yard. A half second later I seen a yote hot on the foxes tail. Appeared that the fox was slightly faster than the yote but they went thru the yard and down into a heavily wooded area.
I backtracked where they had come from and found that they BOTH had crossed an open field that is approx 250 yards across a road then into my yard. I then tracked them a little way out of my yard till BOTH sets of tracks crossed the river which is about 2 feet deep in that area. I'm unsure of the outcome of the chase.

I know yotes hate fox but is what I seen an unusual occurrence? Just seemed an awful long way for the yote to be chasing a fox........

he was after dinner, coyotes will kill and eat foxes, the main reason that foxes like more open country is just that, they can outrun just about anything in the wide open, but in the thick stuff they arent quite as swift (except for the gray who's body is built just for that). I know there are a lot of guys on here that would hate to hear that a fox is being chased by a yote.
