Yup, left my catch in the cooler with a lot of ice overnight to clean in the morning and found about 6 of the same things your showing. Kind of gave me the willies. So what is the deal with these, I have never seen them before.

Did't tell the wife, for sure. Hey honey look what I found in the walleye today. View attachment 392215
Lol...... Same here smooz.... Can't tell the ol lady either.
Put a post on SCR forums 2 yrs ago about this same issue.. And YES the old lady came out back when I was cleaning them.... Bad news, freak out !! Started hanging em over board on a stringer becuase I read they leave the body when the fish dies.

Bad idea, was grosses out myself with trails and trails of worms behind the fish's ass .. Just dump cooler outside of gate away from dog's, problem solved. Not in meat so don't bug me that bad. And don't see it "usaully" till water warms

They get them from eating emerald shiners and other bait fish. As long as you cook the fish completely they are harmless.

They leave the host fish after it dies, DNR said we could gut the fish (save guts in plastic bag) and we wouldn't have them in the livewell or cooler. Do not throw guts overboard or fillet the walleye while on the water.

All the more reason to bleed them in the livewell and make sure it’s clean before you launch in your favorite, tape worm free inland lake.
