Wood Duck House Cameras

For those of you who have wood duck houses with cameras inside them, do you try to disguise them or recess them above the standard "top" of the box or are they completely visible to the hen? The two boxes I have right how both have a secondary top in them with a small hole drilled for the camera to see through, however I wanted to go another route. The blink camera system is so easy to setup and more importantly, completely wireless, so I was considering just screwing these directly to the inside top of the box and letting it fly. But I don't want this to discourage hens from nesting either.

I'd love to hear anybody's experience with this as I'm planning to build some additional boxes for the yard and want to ensure I build them appropriately to accommodate the the Blink cameras and ideally have nesting success.

Well my first batch of ducks didn't go as planned this year. Mom abandoned the nest (who knows why) the day before they all hatched. I left them in the box the night after hatching to give nature a chance but mom never showed. Apparently I wasn't quick enough to extract them from the box the next morning and they took it upon themselves to jump without mom. I realized quick enough that they hadn't wandered too far though. Nevertheless, I had to scramble around the yard and woods on my hands and knees scooping them all up and putting them into a tote. Eventually 13 little ones were taken to The Bird Center of Michigan for rehabilitation. Here's to hoping that the brood in the other box follow the normal plan.
