I am planting a new lawn and this springs attempt failed due to drought conditions. My question is can I plant rye and fescue grass this fall and just mow the rye off next year to give my grass time to get established. I had great sucsess doing this with clover in my food plots last year just not sure about doing this with grass. Any help would be appreciated

I would seed the grass in the middle to end of September when there is plenty of rain NORMALLY. The grass should take off and not need the rye for a cover crop.
