I found a Winchester 94 for sale in pretty good shape...serial number 1418738

Shoots a 32 win spl

From my research it was made somewhere between 1943-1947

It looks like the only modification to it is a rear sight that can be adjusted for distance of target Williams brand

Can anyone/ everyone please confirm date, confirm that rear side is a modification and ballpark me a value/ fair price.

Thanks in advance!

There are a lot of reference books on old Winchesters' that will have accurate information. I don't have any, and the following is my opinion...

It is probably a 46 or 47. It should have a flat barrel band and the forend should extend about 3inches past the band. I believe it would have had a semi-buckhorn sight on the barrel and the elevation ramp will have thumb grooves. Is the Williams sight you mentioned a peep? I don't think that 94s were drilled and tapped for a receiver mounted peep until the 50s, and I think used Lyman brand.

I would guess the value to be between $350 and $500. They are solid guns and a good value. Buy it, shoot it, and pass it down some day.
