I dont know about the best way......but here is what I do

I bought a frabil cooler keeper minow bucket (stryofoam cooler inside a bucket) and a battery operated bubbler that hangs on the side. The bubbler keeps the water from freezing and keeps oxygen in the water. I keep my wigglers in that bucket too while leaving them in the pastic container they come in.....just change the water in the container occasionally.

Waxies, spikes and mousies go into containers (I use the tubes that M&M mini's come in.....they work great for bait containers after punching a couple holes in the lid....and hey you get some candy out of the deal too, my daughter thinks I'm great :D ) then I keep them in the chest pocket of my carhart bibs to keep em from freezing.

I wonder if the larva you bought could have been meal worms?
