Currently have the bushnell cheapy it came with and it's not working so well. My primary uses are crows, squirrels and predators. I really would like to get something with 12x magnification. I'd rather not get into an AO scope as my intended targets could appear and disappear an ranges from 15 yrds to 200yrds.. Also something that produces a clear picture at 25yrds.. Price point $125 or less. Thanks in advance

Good luck. For ranges like that in a rimfire, an AO is almost mandatory to eliminate parallax.
Here's about the cheapest "quality" scope with power range you are looking for. Lifetime replacement warranty is one of if not the best in the industry.

Natchez has the Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40mm on sale for $200....but it is a AO but does have side focus which is faster. Some of the Vortex have side focus as well.

This Mueller fits your requirements...again minus the OA

If it were my money, I would expand my budget just a little and buy this Vortex Diamondback 4x12-40.....No AO. $199 and optically, it is a screaming deal.

I have a BSA sweet 17. Scope is very clear and crisp. What do u guys use for scope caps/covers for AO scopes with bell adjustments? I prefer the flip ups. But those aren't an option for this scope

IMO, 12x is pretty much a waste of power for hunting w/ a .17 HMR

I do just fine w/ my .17 on 7x and maybe up to 9x for prairie dogs at any distances that are within range.
