For pike, it's a coin toss between shiners and suckers.

For eyes, it's blues.

For Pike. Suckers:) . They seem to stay alive the longest (You can use them over and over if they don't get hit), and they tend to stay down better than other baits I've used. Sometimes perch, shiners, etc will have a tendency to swim towards the surface and often tangle the line.

Bait is soooooooo expensive these days that blue gill are my bait of choice. If someone wants to bring shiners or suckers, I have no preference, but I can't afford them.

The lake i have been fishing there are alot of huge crappie so i dont use my tip-ups for pike i set them up with a regular hook(or a nice size jig) and a walleye minnow. and set it about 10-20 ft away.
