Not sure what to do? I planted soy’s in the spring, it did great. Earlier this month I tilled up 1/3 of the plot and planted soy’s again the deer are hammering the plot. Now I want to cover the plot with oats or wheat for after the frost hits do you think this will work with out covering the seed. I don’t want to destroy the soy’s. thanks

The late soys will stay green into October more than likely and shade out any chance of the grains germinating, however, the early soys should die on schedule so you should plan on spreading your grains as soon as the soy leaves start to yellow (probably in the next 2-3 weeks). As cheap as the grains are I would sew the whole plot though.
Wheat and rye will germinate with good moisture without being tilled in.
Good luck!
