I'm still learning a lot about trolling for walleye!
I was looking for two trolling rods to be used with 2 oz & 3 oz bottom bouncers, no planner boards, sitting in rod holders in the back corners of the boat. I would also like to use these same rods for long lining Bandits and Husky Jerks, if possible.

Others have suggested:
Okuma Dead Eye Classic 7' 10" DEC-C-7101M-T $45
Okuma Dead Eye Classic 8' 6" DEC-C-861M-T $45
Daiwa North Coast Rod 8" 6" NC902MFS $60 (Recommend By Mark Romanack)
Denali Trane Trolling Rod 8' TC802M $70

What do you use and what do you recommend?
Thanks

Honestly, bottom line for me is (what do you enjoy or like ?)....I haven't trolled the lake for YEARS....but no matter....

I enjoy a rod that's more parabolic....when trolling, be it Walleye or Musky & the flex will absorb a lot of head shaking, lol....I like downrigger rods, strong enough for Salmon and so for Musky as well....and still fun with Walleye....heck, I like them for Perch fishing, lol....cheers....

Thanks for all the replies.
I'll have to make a trip to Franks to compare the different rods.
It sounds like the Ugly Stik & the Wilderness rods are popular.
What power in the Ugly Stik line would be best with 2 or 3 oz bottom bouncers,
ML, M or MH?

I am now on the search for a quality BB rod to hold in my hand that is light weight but can handle the 4oz+BB and feel every little tick. Shoot with suggestions if you have any. not spending over 150.00 Ill be the first to admit i use my trolling rods currently with line counter and very flexible rod and i feel like the flex helps with the current and head shakes so going to a stiffer more sensitive rod might bite me with all that current. What are your guys thoughts?

So much of fishing is ? "personal" ?....my cousin never bottom bounced with anything but a spinning rod....MH and fairly short, I don't recall the length....I always laughed and said "Butch doesn't catch Walleye, Walleye catch Butch" LOL !! ....I don't have anything but good to say about him, he just liked a spinning rod....

When hand holding a BBing Walleye rod, myself I do not like a soft action, a lot like jigging....a faster tip and backbone make the "feel" easier....length ?....ehhh....one of my favorites was a 6'6" St. Croix in MH....today I use an older 6'6" Berkley Lightning rod in MH, 10 to 25lb test, lol....and an Ugly stick in MH, 6'6" too....

Honestly a litter better quality rod does have some better feel, duh.....but it's far from a necessity....don't think I ever owned an old Berkley Lightning rod that I didn't love, lol !!!!....they were just good stuff....a lot like old Garcia Conolon rods, dang....cheers....

I'm not an expert & I have not used it, but if I had the budget I would look at:

St Croix Eyecon, Bounce N Troll, ECC70MHM. ($130)

However, it is only rated for 3 oz and is only offered in the 7 foot length. This rod has a lot of fans.
It would be great to find someone who has tried it with the heaver weights that your interested in.

Thanks for info as i was not aware St Croix made a rod like that. Good to know. I was hoping to get something a tad longer to get more spread. If it's rated up to 3oz that's pretty solid.

I had a thought last night. I bought the blue Fenwick Trolling rods that are 24M graphite for trolling and haven't put reels on them. I'm curios if this will solve all my problems in regards to sensitivity and being able to handle the weight and being a lighter rod. it's an 8' 6" telescoping trolling rod. I'm going to give it a shot for now and see how it goes for now while i look into some other rods as well. Tight lines.
