Bringing it back to the new world. lol

I have Antelope in Colorado in October. Another first for me. I was thinking of using my Ruger M77 25/06 for this hunt. That caliber seems like a good choice out there. The guide said to figure on 250-300 yards. Which is right up its alley. It is going to need a new scope for sure. So, any suggestions on a Leupold? I'm thinking 30mm for that rifle.
Before that I have Ontario Black Bear (my favorite animal) in August. I have to look over their new rifle restrictions to see if my BAR is still allowed. Hopefully it is.

Beyond that, I'm sure I'm a cinch for the Maine Moose Hunt this year. Wish me luck on that.

Good Hunting Everyone!
Can't go wrong with a Leupold. VX5HD 3-15x44 is a good choice for out to 800 easily. I like the fire dot reticle but there are several reticle options. I have one on a 25-284 that I use for antelope. Clear scope that tracks well for me. Another good scope at less than half that price is the Sightron STAC. They offer a 3-16x42 or 4-20x50 with an MOA reticle or duplex. It's a SFP scope. They offer a FFP option but that model is much pricier and I don't like FFP scopes to hunt with. Hard to beat that one for price and quality combined.

I'll go Leupold for sure. I bought that rifle in 1983 from an E-5 in my unit. It had an old steel weaver 3x9. 43 years ago, that scope was a real game changer. lol

Nice! I fat fingered my app and didn't even get the deer point. Just elk and pronghorn points, don't how I managed that. OTC elk 2nd season is the plan. Notched tags on deer and elk in 2023 and didn't go last year, missing the mountains.
Oh no!!! If it makes you feel better… I did that last year with my Arizona deer application and somehow didn’t submit it. I was heartbroken! LOL

I’m sitting out again this year.

Just building points for Wyoming, SD and apparently Nebraska now that Sandhills is a draw.

I tried to snag an Idaho tag today on the return tag sale. I ended up 2499 in line on the random so by the time I got in, all non-resident any deer were gone. There were a few whitetail tags in low density whitetail units (units where less than ten percent of harvests are whitetail). Plus, I wasn’t paying $651 and driving 27 hours to shoot a 120” whitetail with less than 2% odds of success.

Rumor says Idaho is going to a draw next year, which I don’t mind. Let me pay a fee and let randomness prevail with an email later rather than having to be logged in and deal with technology glitches.
