Jeez that is really sad. Usually not fishermen that get swept off, cuz they know better. Lake was angry this morning, and fishing the north pier in a north wind gets dangerous in a hurry
That's 2 so far this year in St. Joe. I was out there fishing earlier this year while a sonar boat was scanning out in front of everyone fishing looking for a body from a couple days before.
The piers can be dangerous for sure. I can recall a few times in Frankfort we had to hide behind the lighthouse to avoid getting washed off - back in my younger years involving northwind days filled with Redbull and Jager and pitching glow spoons from dusk till dawn
