Well ... it is that time of year again to bring up this subject.

FIREWORKS (and THUNDERSTORMS) are not good for many GUN DOGS and may have negative consequences. Please take precautions and keep your dogs away from them, if possible. Keeping them safely inside with some type of distracting noise is usually best. Playing the TV or radio LOUDER than usual to drown out the noise sometimes helps. Pleases do NOT take them to FIREWORKS SHOWS and do not leave them home by themselves without some type of distraction noise playing. Be especially careful if your dog is in their FEAR PERIOD, when it can make a lifetime NEGATIVE impact.

Be PROACTIVE ... protect their very sensitive ears.

There are some great suggestions and stories in the previous year's WARNINGS:

Mentioned that to another Forum member asking for training advice as he's bringing a new pup home. If his neighborhood is anything like mine it's a frickin' war zone. If you have a basement take the dogs downstairs and watch a loud movie or baseball game. Enjoy the 4th.
