UPDDATE! UPDATE!.....The volunteer section is now up and available on the walleye for warriors website. You can fill out when you can help be it Saturday and or Sunday with anything, including the fish cleaning. There will be 2 or 3 tents towards the river of the main tent. One tent does the first filleting, the second tent zippers, cleans up any missed spots and separates the fillets into the same weight baggies for the Vets. .
You'd be surprised how many fillets still have skin/scales/rib bones left on. Usually it takes around 4 to 5 hrs to get all the walleye filleted, cleaned, bagged, and into the cooler trailer. With more folks helping, breaks can be had. Some years we just kept going with no breaks to get it all done. It takes a lot of runners also to dump the bags of walleye guts, run the fillets to the trailer, bring the walleye from the boats to the tents for cleaning, taking the fillets to the zipper tent etc.

Tom, with any luck, we'll have the cooler a little closer this year . Also we'll have 2 of those 4' x 8' tables for the stripping/washing/bagging, and 4 tables just for filleting Along with another tent or 2. Weather is looking good, and I'm predicting 2000-2500 fish we'll clean!

There's been some who think the capts. meeting is at 3 today, but it is at 1:00 pm., and vets at 2:00. Some may have not got the update. Here's from their facebook page dated June 15. Please pass the word to anyone asking....

We are done to the last few days and making final preparations. We have had several people let us know they are not making it this weekend. If you are not making it and are on this email, my apologies for the email. We are still reassigning boats right now.
We lost a couple boats and a dozen or so Vets in the last couple days so we need to make sure we can fill those spots with people on the wait list. We have met almost every request where possible on the entry forms....

Here is the agenda.

Saturday
9:00am volunteers arrive and start setting up.
1:00pn Boat Captain Registration opens
2:00pm Boat Captains Meeting and Veterans Registration opens
3:00pm Boat Captains and Veterans meeting
4:00pm Bay City Elks Flag presentation

Sunday
4:00am Let the fun begin!!!!
5:00am Boat launching begins
7:15am Star Spangled Banner
7:30am Fleet departs with USCG/DNT/Sherriff escort
7:45am - 2:30pm Fishing
3:00pm Fleet returns
4pm Supper (for Veterans and Boat Captains)

The meeting will take place under the tent at Veterans Park in Bay City and we will launch from there Sunday morning.
On Saturday, there is no designated parking but we ask that the spots closest to the tent area be saved for our Veterans who we don’t walking too much.

Sounded like noon would be the earliest, anytime after that from the discussions I've heard. I'm planning on being there around 1130 to help do whatever then transition into cleaning fish

I wasn't able to sign up on the site due to phone issues. I did let Ralph know. My wife and two kids(6+14) are coming and going to help. Hopefully somebody can find them something to do!
