Finally buying a vexilar but not sure which one to get. Has anyone out there use an 18 yet? My only concern is the flasher on the right isn't very big if your over 10 feet of water and you need to change settings. I like the idea of seeing the last 6 feet but afraid the other screen will be too small in deep water. HELP

Go to search, lot of threads available. General feeling is get the Fl-18. Just love mine especially the zoom feature.

Get the 18, you won't regret it! The deepest water that I fished last year with it was only 40' but had no problem seeing the fish on the right screen, when in zoom mode....Patch

This is going to be my third year with the FL-18 Pro Pack and I love it. I am not really a great icefisherman but i have no trouble understanding it and can tell most of the time when there is fish down there. Still not too good at finding fish within weeds but they say it isn't that hard with a little practice. I would almost guarantee that you will prefer it over the FL-8.

If you're thinking about it being to small to show the fish, I wouldn't worry about it. If you see fish more than six feet off the bottom watch the right side and raise your bait up. If you still have a hard time telling if you are close to the suspended fish or not drop the range a setting (i.e from 3x to 2x) or turn off the zoom function while you are going the suspended fish. When they are gone go back to the setting you were fishing with earlier.
