Thanks for all your support guys. It does mean a lot to me and to Jen (I forwarded your responses to her).

Here is the latest info that we know...

From Jen

...got a little bit more info last night from Rear D Commander.

Here it is: Paul's injuries are classified as serious, but he's in stable condition at a Hospital in Iraq. (A U.S. Hospital) He sustained head and face injuries in a small arms altercation. Once he is stable enough to fly to Germany, they will do so. From there they will assess his injuries and do what is needed. If he requires a specialist he will then fly to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C., or Sam Houston in Texas. If they think he can recover and be taken care of without needing a specialist he will come back here to our Army Hospital on Fort Carson. So things are still up in the air right now, and I'm just hoping and praying he'll be ok.

Thanks again for your all your thoughts and prayers.

Glad to hear he is stable. I know that most. Was all at one point ( may still be ) solders that make it to a hospital in Iraq pull through. Not allot of comfort but its something.

Yes, it is. Just got off the phone with Jen who had just previously talked to Paul's Doc in the wee hours of the morning.

Paul sustained a gun shot injury below the right eye that passed through and existed behind his left ear.

he's conscious, but can't speak. he wrote his message on a tablet and asked if "his boys" are o.k. (he's all of 25 himself!) and then was sorry that he caused us (our family) so much heart ache.

crazy isn't it? Get shot in the face and he's worried about Jen and our family!!

It's easier for me to deal with by sharing it with you all. if I kept it inside i fear I might just lose it at some point.

I can definitely say that I'm gushing with Pride

The main thing is he's alive and that is great news Branta.

Sounds like a tough guy so I am sure he'll do fine.....but that doesn't mean we'll stop praying for him and the rest of our people over there.

Good to hear that Paul is doing better. I'll keep him in my prayers.

My bro-in-law was in Iraq for a while too, but he's back home at Camp Lejeune now. My sis was quite a wreck while he was gone. I can't begin to imagine what your family is going through...

Hope things go well for Paul. Makes you think,,why don't these folks get paid more for there effforts??? Confusing,,,when a Plumber makes more then a solder or a teacher or even a law enforcement person,,,,you know something isn't right.
