I need some advice on what I can plant to help the deer out.Heres what I have,40 acres in the Western U.P.It is borded by a large swamp and appears that some of the bucks in the area winter here(shed antlers).High ground with mixed hardwoods and some Oaks.Also a couple of open areas with plenty of sunshine.I was thinking of planting Alpha Rack Whitetail clover,What do you think?

Rico gave you the first step.

Second step would be to visit your soil conservation district and get a soils map along with the index. The index will tell you if your soils will be able to grow legumes "clover or beans".

Third step will be to get a copy of Ed Spin's Food Plot 1,2,3 book.

While you're waiting for Ed' book to arrive take time to read all the threadson this forum no matter what the topic. The topics tends to meander through all sorts of habitat topics, links and other reading.

Lastly welcome to the site, we need more input from Superior, the 51st state.
