Mon, July 30:
I fished with Roger L, Don B, and Joe A, and put 16 walleye to rest and 11 bonus perch. Most of the fish we are catching now are either definite throw backs or very nice chunky fish. The perch yielded two pounds of skinless filets. 26 FOW 1.3 to 1.5 MPH pulling 2 and 3 oz bouncers with home tied harnesses. A big purple homemade smile did some damage as well as a glow tiger. It's not easy picking but with a little work fish can be had. I don't mind working when a payday is involved.

Tue, July 31:
I fished with Paul R (Paperboy), Rich (BuckNDuck), and Rich's Two beautiful kids Emily and Hunter. I think Emily is 9 and Hunter 7. These kids are being raised right and are a pleasure to be around. The kids reeled in most of our 20 fish walleye box. We also had 10 bonus perch. The perch keep finding their way to my table. I gave all my walleye away to someone that really needs it. Most of our eyes didn't need measuring. 1.5 to 1.7 MPH. Thank You Mike V. (Trophy Specialist) for the speed tip later in the afternoon. Ya now what I like, Bouncers and meat.

These reports are for the inner Saginaw Bay. A lot of fishermen think the game is over but with a little effort and determination a good box can be had. Who want's easy limits?? Savor the trip and enjoy the day. When you limit out the fun stops.

This makes 3 days in a row for me. It's not a record for me but I'm a bit tired and will probably take a day off.

Thanks for the great trip Frank. You seem to put us on fish every time out. Our fault if we can't get em to the boat. Grumpy comes thru again.:chillin:

Great job Frank!! Took my little boat out this afternoon, but wind picked up and only made out around spark plug (bouy 12) Trolled with the waves s.e. back towards plug,21 fow, 2-2 color,2-3 color all with spoons, and 3 oz. over corner with harnesses, and not a nibble. After an hour, pulled lines and went n.e. of channel to 24 fow, and trolled s.e. again with waves, nothing again. Wind picked up more from NW, and we high tailed it in bashing a few good waves while riding the troughs in the 15 footer:lol: Ended up going around eastside of island and sneaking in that way. Waves were going pretty good, was glad to have the 60 horsey on the back:) No fish, but boat worked great since getting fixed. Would have headed your way this morning if the storms didn't come through. Can't believe not a sheep, cat, smalleye. First true skunk of the season:SHOCKED: Still would do it again though, love it out there:) Seems like alot of perch while trolling for eyes..:16suspect

Close to the same area. Different wind had us trolling a different direction and pattern. I'm glad I met and fished with Backlash Sr. We play a slightly different game and Don Sr. picked up on it quickly. When conditions allow we put a lot of lines in the water. This helps us zero in quickly on depths and colors. We most always run bouncers and meat. I get asked a lot of crank bait questions like, "how far back". To me bouncers are the K.I.S.S. method. People that understand the concept and can read a sonar don't have to ask this question. It just slightly bugs me when someone asks, "how far back". I think the guys asking this question are the same ones asking for a radio check at least once a trip. Lots of stuff bug grumpy old guys. Thanks for putting me in contact with your dad. Radio Check on 68.:dizzy: Priority1 Out.

When kids are aboard they truly are priority1. I don't growl near as much when kids are aboard. Rich's kids are polite, bright, and brought up right. They were interested in what was happening and seemed to enjoy the time on the water. Gotta love the kids. They are our future.:)

Joe, We're all kids at heart. Ya know the old saying, "Once a man twice a boy". You're getting closer to that third phase.

Frank,
It was a pleasure to be on the Saginaw Bay once again with you. My kids had an absolute blast on the water and enjoyed every moment of the trip. Sharing good times on the water with friends and family is what its all about.

It didn't really kick in just how difficult the walleye fishing was on the bay yesterday until I started hearing the radio chatter and guys on the bay not catching a single fish and asking for help. Franks knowledge of the bay and her walleye fishery along with the determination he has to put fish in the boat on such a consistent basis makes fishing with him quite the experience that I'm glad I was able to share with my kids.

I don't want to ruin Franks reputation on here as being a grumpy old man by telling everyone that Emily and Hunter think of Frank as a teddy bear with a kind heart, well except for the one part about making their dad swim with the fishies if he lost another one of their fish at the net :cwm27:. Did I mention the kids enjoyed every moment they spent fishing with Frank on Priority 1. :)

Thanks Ralph!

BTW, the perchies were looking mighty tasty. Heat was getting to me yesterday as I was imagining them swimming right into the frying pan on the back of the P1, but it was just the cooler. Looking forward to seeing you on the river this Fall perch fishing.

Which river is the question:D;) I'll be jigging the sag. hard for eyes when I can. I'll be able to make a call to work from off Cass ave. if that happens:)

The Q. I do like the idea of jigging the Saginaw for some eyes though. I should have a front trolling motor by then and you are always welcome to fish with me on my boat.
