i am going to be clearing a small food plot area and it has some 5-7 foot oak saplings...is it worth transplanting these elsewhere?? if so when, how etc...

Oaks tend to be more difficult than other trees to transplant, because of the long tap root. Smaller trees would be more likely to survive if you have any.

If you area is predominantly covered with oaks. Not just your property but adjoining properties I wouldn't replant the oaks. I would put more concentration into a good food plot. I would also fertilze some of the other oak trees to add flavor to the acorns. Use fruit tree spikes for fertilizer.
