I didnt have a peep sight put on my new bow today, I've never used one and the guy at the counter said it was my choice but towards dark the things can cause problems.

WHat do they actually do, just make sure your anchoring in the same spot consistently, like a kisser will do? Or do they actually assist in aim?

Well I just got done shooting, this rtelease is a tad bit weird feeling but I'm getting comfortable with it, I havent shot over 20 yds yet, but at 20 I'm grouping 3 out of 5 within about 3 inches, but I'm straying a couple, I notice when I'm grouping them I'm looking right through the string at the pin, and I think I might get a peep put in this week.

A peep may tighten up your groups. But it will restrict you in shooting in low light. You will usually be done 15 min before shooting time ends.

When I started I used finger realease and a kisser. When I went to a peep and a mechanical release my groups tightend up alot more, especially at 30 and 40 yards.

They are only a few bucks, you could try one and see how you like it. Just dont get the kind with the noisy rubber tubing.

If you shoot with both eyes open and you get a schurz-a-peep in the magnum size then you will not restrict to much light. That is the best set up I have found thus far. I install peeps everyday and I cannot tell you how many people shoot with one eye closed. Anyways, try both eyes and the schurz-a and you will like it.

I just bought this one:

You line the back X up with the pin. Only one pin, but for where I hunt, that's enough. Spent a little time sighting it in so far, need to spend a little more, but pretty accurate. Basically it gives you two points (the x and the pin) which you line up, similar to a peep and the sight pin or an anchor point and the pin.

Well I just bought a brand new sight so I think thats out of thew question.

How do you know if a sight is made to eliminate the need for a peep sight?
The Hind Sight can be used with just about any peep sight. It is a rear reference sighting device. There are others on the market as well that can also be used in conjuction with your sight. Besided eleminating the need for a peep sight, these devices also reduce tourquing and promote better shot mechanics. They are not for everyone though, so as I recomended, go try one out and see what you think.
