I have been fortunate in finding really nice dogs for over 35 years.
I've never felt it necessary to breed as it is much easier to just find what you like and buy it.
I have never felt the need to be involved in breeding a dog.
Especially to acquire another dog for my string.
I am know ready to whelp my first litter.
I have bred my Setter (Dottie) a granddaughter of Erin's Hidden Shamrock to Ponderosa Mac who is the winningest Coverdog in the history of Grouse and Woodcock trials.
Mac is also the sire to my Penny.
To me Dottie is a special dog.
She didn't need birds to bump, knock, or see to get started. From day one she went out and stood her birds without ever seeing one as instinctively as when a dog has a litter. They have pups and somehow miraculously they know what to do.
She is extremely powerful, an extraordinary bird finder,
excellent bird manners from the get, beautifully gaited, and has intelligence even with the high drive staying completely engaged in her quest for birds.
In a few days I will be doing this for the first time.
I'm convinced that she is additive to the breed and needs to contribute.
