If it is a tear and not a large hole that is missing material, a product called Goop works great, can be found at most stores for about $3/tube. drys clear and waterproof, stays pliable in frigid temps and adhears great to any clean surface. It is marketed for several applications (hardware, automotive, sporting applications, etc.)but I believe they are all pretty much the same stuff.

I also suggest duct tape. But, I go one step farther. After I put the duct tape on and use the process as stated before. I take and sew all the way around the duct tape with fireline.

deffinately duct tape! I've had 3 holes patched for 4 years and hardly lifting on edges. I put strips overlapping each other up and down first, then put strips horizontal. The important thing i thing was when putting on the 2nd(horizontal layer) was to start at bottom of hole and go up overlapping like shingles on roof, so any condensation or rain etc. will run off rather than under. I did this on both inside and out.

Well I brought the shanty in and put duct tape inside and out the tape was very sticky. But I have returned from my outting and the tape is falling off I don't see a better way than sewing a patch on. I bought it used last year a Jays the manager and some friends burned a hole with a lantren and I think maybe got the auger blade against another spot the holes are not big just anoying just thought I would paatch them before they got worse.
This is the cloth Shapell not the poly. I have a poly 3000 and duct tape is the best fix on the poly that I have found.

I would go with with what michmike suggested , but go one better and apply the goop to a piece of cloth or canvas simaler to what you'r patching and spred the patch over the tear or hole , do this on both sides . Goop stays plyable after setup, and I'll bet you wont be able to pull the patches off after an over nite cure

;) Thanks alot for the Goop idea! I applied it to some material and patched the inside and outside. You were right this made a very plyable patch even when it's cold I can tell that this patch will hold a lifetime. I know duct tape works on my 3000 Shapell with the gray covering but not the DX 4000 witch has the black material and is more of cloth type of material.
Lets just say the Goop worked. Thanks for all the help you guys are great.:D
