The problem with fall is the cascading game seasons. It starts off with bear, then adds small game, then waterfowl (I'm not really clear on when water fowl starts). Next comes archery deer, then trapping. Finally firearms deer, then muzzle loading deer.
Few can participate in all that they want to, and have to make choices.
I have two suggestions that might help. First is for Michigan to go to or add a spring bear hunt. That would free up hunters for fall small game, and water fowl. Second is to move the U. P. muzzle loading deer season opener to the first Friday in October. Muzzle loading is miserable enough. Don't burden it with the worse conditions of the first Friday in December.
