Just wondering how deep the temp break is recently. Thinking about going there tomorrow if the stars align.

Fished st joe today. Started off in 55 based on some reports amd waves. Didn't mark a lot, made our way out to 120-140. Pretty steady marks around 65 ft. down. Ended up 1 for 5 or 6, 12lb laker on bottom (the old trip saver...). Raspberry carbon down 65 had 2 hits, 300cu rv wonderbread, 250cu green spoon had a couple and maybe the 150 w/ mixed veggies. This was by far my worst hookup day, makes me want to try some of those siwash hooks. I'll take a decent laker and no lost gear...

Back to the original question...looked like there may have been a thermocline on the graph around 55fow. The New Buffalo buoy does look way better and has been steady for a while, probably should have driven the extra 20 minutes down I94 :)

I ended up 1 for 2 with a nice steelie. Both fish bit the free slider spoon (stinger gold with black dots) off the down rigger line which was running at 80ft over 120 ft of water. So figure the free sliders were running 40ish foot.
I took measurements here and there with my fish hawk td. Out in the 120s it was 50 degrees at 80 ft deep. 40ft was still in the 70s. Guess that doesn't matter to the steelhead.
Guy at the boat launch said I went out too far. I did work the 70-90 area early but everyone else was running way out so after no bites for 4 hrs I figured I'd run out there too.
Fleas got on my lines but they seem to come off easy enough. So not a complete nuisance. Bugs are bad. Biting flys and little no seeums. And of course the sun and heat was brutal.
Great time as always. Love the water. Love it when the rod starts throbbin and the reel screams. Makes it all worth the effort.

I took a couple guys out this morning. Heard there was a good early bite in 60 to 80 fow, but we didn't get out til about 6:45. Put a spoon down on rigger down 47', turned around and it fired. Nice little 6 or so pound king. Got about 5 rods out and a 7/c with a orange flasher fly took a nice coho. We were in about 77 at that time.

Dried up after that. Worked back in to 70 then bumped it out. Finally hit a steelhead in about 120 on the same spoon on rigger down 50'. About 11:00 a diver out 280' fired in 140 foot. That was a decent king on a flasher fly combo. Gave it about another half hour and called it a day. Only 4 bites but we got em all. Gorgeous day out there, but she got hot.

Made it to New Buffalo this morning. Rode the south wind in 55-65 fow to the Warren dunes. 5lb coho on white spinning with pickled sunshine mag dipsey out 80, 5lb steelhead and 3 lb king on 150cu, silver fireball. Couple hits on rigger down 45 or so. Good day with my oldest. Long 8mph drive back but at least the rain cooperated. Lots of marks and bait. Would have like to venture out deeper but didn't want to push my luck with the wind.
