This is our official thread for the remainder of the season. Please stay active, post what’s happening and add photos as much as you can. Its fun to watch the progress of other team members and hear their success and horror stories. We have a great team with hunters having awesome property to hunt so this should be an exciting season to stay active. Lets get it started……

OK so here is a little about me. I live in Birch Run, have 20 acres about 2 miles from my house that i purchased last year. The land was purchased mostly for hunting property and I also tap trees for maple syrup. I mainly hunt that property but will also hunt in the South Branch area as well. I own a small insurance restoration company and am very happy to say October and November are typically my 2 slowest months for business. This allows me to spend alot of time doing what I really love to do. I mostly hunt meat in Michigan and travel the world to get trophies. Ive been to Africa twice and all over Canada hunting many different big game animals. I will more than likely fill an antlerless tag next weekend to get us some quick points because i am out of pastrami... I process all my own animals and smoke all my own sausage, jerky and new last year pastrami that is my family's new favorite. We do not buy beef so I try to put 3-4 deer a year in the freezer.

Nice work & thanks for putting it all together Capt. & Holy crap you've had some serious adventures!
My name's Norm. I've been hunting since I was old enough to be a "dog" on deer drives with my Dad & uncle's. I consider myself very lucky in that I hunt 3 different family properties in Jackson county. (Craig if you need help on a drag or a track let me know, I'd be glad to meet you & lend a hand) I mostly concentrate on my brother in law's tree farm just outside of Jackson. I love/live whitetail deer hunting. I'm not big on early bow season, but I'll go out a couple times early to some secondary stands to get the kinks worked out & all. But come Halloween - end of muzzleloader season, I will live on that tree farm as much as possible without causing a divorce lol. Can't wait to hear about you guys & what you're all about!

Sounds good, I usually have no problem with getting them out and have several friends that are willing to give a hand as well but I'll let you know. Thanks for the offer. I'll give you a hand as well if you need it. Where are you hunting? General area is fine, dont want to give away our sweet spots..

Morning guys! I will try keep up thru out the season. I spend most my time hunting in Oscoda and Ogemaw county. I have a cabin that sits on 12 acres and another 41 about 10 miles down the road. Tons of state and federal land that I still have some good stands on. I just picked the 41 up a few years ago. If everything works out right I only plan on spending about 8 days at work in November:):woohoo1:, but we will see what the season has in store. It only takes 1 hunt to make a bad season into a great one. As usual can’t wait until it begin.

Sounds like you guys have some pretty good properties to hunt. I’ll be trying to fill my doe tag early in Jackson County. I hunt at a buddy’s small piece by Wamplers lake. I’ll be up in Iron County starting November 4 through the 17th. No telling what I’ll see up there. It use to be great hunting up there but our numbers took a serious hit when the wolves moved in and then about 3 years after that we had those really hard winters. Last year I didn’t see much had a couple 2 year olds and a few does. Hopefully this year is different.

The team i was on last year started off really good. We had some guys on our team that fell off the planet when it got to the end of the season. They showed us pictures of their success both bucks and does but never posted photos on the successful hunter thread. Dont think we had enough to take first but definitely would have been top 3 if my math was correct. A few doe and we just might have had a new winner. The key to this is have fun, give some banter and be able to take some banter in return. If you are not participating expect some fun banter from your team captain.....

Not a dumb question at all. That is exactly how it works. The team thread is our "fun" thread. If you want to score a kill it MUST be added to the 2019 successful hunter thread that is set up for only that purpose. All photos entered must meet the standards to get points. Meaning the photo must have the team member with the weapon used and a proper kill tag attached to the animal. Those 4 things are a MUST or it will not be counted.

I am not really into all the IT glamour myself and couldn't careless if we have a team banner but if one of you want to put one together that's fine with me. I myself am kind of a simple person but LOVE to see teammates pictures. I have a few from early season that got me pumped up a bit but nothing real recent. Everything new are smaller bucks but if its anything like last year the big boys will be back. Here are some from June.

I've got some trail cam pics that I'll definitely post up tommorow, I had a root canal today, the meds have wore off & are affecting my ability to find the right files on my phone. Out of curiosity do we all archery hunt? If so what do you like to use? & When do you like to get after them?

That is really strange, I was looking at your post and the deer you posted and the post just went away. I saw the pictures and your comments went to zoom in on the one you said was a big 6 and I lost everything. The entire post went away...

During Archery I shoot my trusty 21 year old Mathews Z-Max Lite or my 1 year old Tenpoint Stealth NXT. Connected on opening day last year with the Stealth. That's the way to break in a bow on its first hunt. Probably will use the Tenpoint a lot this year, except if one of the kids go out with me, then i will let them use it.

For gun just bought a Ruger 350 Legend, but that and my Marlin 30-30 will be used by my boys, and I'll use my Omega.

Love the 1st 2 weeks of Nov with my bow. It's a Bowtech Admiral & it turns10 this year. Always used a Mossberg 695 bolt 12 gauge or my TC Omega smokepole during gun seasons. But back in April I went to a qdma banquet & won a CVA scout in 450 Bushmaster. Thought it would be perfect for my my 13 yr old son to use. But he is pretty positive that he doesn't want/think he can shoot & kill a deer. Funny thing is the kids a turkey hunting machine. Loves that spring thunder, but deer just doesn't seem to trip his trigger. So I guess that means dad's got a new deer rifle to try out.

I've never been a big gun hunter but have always hunted the first few days just to be out for the opener. Last year I bought a new T/C 50cal and fell in love with it. Took 3 deer with it between here and Manitoba. It's a freaking tack driver out to 300 yards. I will be spending alot of "office" time again this year.. loved setting my office blind doing paperwork last year.

Bow season...Mathews halon
Gun season...savage 212 trying the lightfield hybrid elites this year 546 grains of BOOM!
Just got a 450 so kinda anxious to try it out... ( though I wanna see lightfield devastation)

Just bought 62 acres of neglected WRP land in April, 8 miles away. Had a habitat guy come in and 900$ later had a laminated photo with basically screened food plots EVERYWHERE. ( I won’t do that again)
Have to get permission from USDA to do anything. So I managed to get in 5 food plots from a quarter to 1/3 acre in. No soil tests, some fertilizer, and all the new fangled no til method. We will see how that works out since it felt like great soil.
Got soooooo many more things I wanna do, but spent so much time on the blinds and waiting for habitat guy I ran out of time....Sooo many projects but I have to ask permission for just about anything.
Got more pheasants and rabbits than I can count...saw 19 rabbits and 13 pheasants without leaving the truck.
Have some cameras out but only one pic of a 10/11 pt that would go on the wall. But about 4500 pics of the same 6 does and babies.
But got the 2 box blinds insulted, carpeted, urinals, curtains and ready to go for gun.. I’ll get some pics up but it’s just so damn hard to post pics on this site.

I can also hunt 65 acres of, not planted this year ag, that does have a target deer or 2 but it might be slim pickens out there otherwise.
If I won’t get it shoulder mounted I won’t shoot it, but have explicit instructions from the wife to get a doe early, due to the fact we ran outta venison in February because I killed nothing last year..
............ need to kill a wall hanger!
Let’s do this

Sounds like you have a great piece of property and once the food plots get established and learn the deer patterns your going to love it. I only have 20 acres that I just bought last year and I'm still trying to figure the deer out. I've put a ton of time and money into mine trying to get rid of a big water problem. Think I have it under control now finally.

Not sure what problem your having with pictures, it's super easy if you use the upload a file button. Are you using an app or the main website? I quit using an app a year ago and just put a shortcut on my phone for the website. Its really simple from there, just like working from a desktop.

little late to the thread but im here. sorry to say im not as active on here as i once was. usually only check in once or twice a week but that changes once im sitting in my stands. we have 60 acres a half mile down the road from our house in fowlerville that i been working on for 5 years now. its not as far along as i want it to be but its a 100% better than when i bought it. my back went out on me 2.5 years ago and i havent worked since. still suffering from cronic nerve pain and just coming off hip surgery a month ago im a little behind this year. i was able to get 3 acres of plots in this fall though but still need to get shooting lanes and stands set up. normally i dont hit a stand till late october unless the trail cams tell me different. i once was a died hard bow hunter and even hunted during gun season with it but since my back injury ive been shooting a crossbow and my trusty h&r ultraslugger. we try for 3.5 year old and older on our place and thankfully i have been able to tag out the past 2 years with one being an injured 2.5 year old. if nothing else i will fill both my spots with does. we have no problem shooting them late season to fill the freezer. most years we go through at least 5 deer.
