If you're referring to my recovery. Not really much to it. I posted in LFTS. I was fortunate enough to have a few friends that were able to come help. One that was in Sebawing, waiting for the rain to stop so he could work. The other offered to drive 2 hrs when he got off work this morning. Good friends! Me and one other guy decided to get right in there about 7. Found a decent amount of dark blood where he stood for a few minutes. Found two more spots where he had stopped within 30 yards of blood and then nothing. We were in some really thick stuff. Lots of blowdowns and just gnarly shrub/brush....anything with thorns! there were two trails leaving the area and we looked over and over on both of them for an hour. I wanted to wait for the 3rd guy to start grid searching. i told the guy i was with that i was pretty sure the deer was headed north when i last saw him....so i told him to stay behind and i was going to sneak up the trail headed that way. I crept up the trail really slow looking for the deer or blood. About 30 yards in i saw the tips of his tines behind a blowdown. I honestly thought he was dead when i snuck around and got a look at him from about 10 yards. i couldnt see his face but i couldnt see him breathing either. i motioned for my buddy to come up where i was. No sooner the deer jumped straight up and tried running, he only made it about 15 yards and laid back down. I was able to move a bit and put another arrow in him. pretty horrible feeling, im super happy he wont go to waste though. He literally doubled back the way he came and was 50 yards from the tree i shot him out of. Bedded almost like he was watching that spot. I was lucky to have 2 other guys...had to either cart him through 400 yards of freshly plowed corn field, or 800 yards of WW. It rained alot while we were out there....we chose the wheat field. Not sure it was the right call...i think i brought home 50 lbs of huron county mud on my cart. The deer was quartering too much more than i thought. i caught a little of the liver, and stomach/intestines. Glad i waited the full 24 hours, I dont believe he would have reacted the same way had i gone in there last night.
