Still some ice packed in by the Tawas DNR launch today.

That last wind storm pushed it back in. The pier is open and there were some guys out there today.

For some reason the DNR fishing report said the Tawas City (River mouth) dock is in but as of this afternoon it wasn’t.

You should be good to go. Maybe try the new pier as well. Should be good colored water up close to the river. I think I’m going up to Oscoda with the boat.

There is but it’s not much of a problem. There are a bunch of boulders at the end though that would make it hard to fish except on the sides.

The side down wind is all I need. A rail might make it nice for hanging a lantern. 😀

You could launch at Gateway park (River mouth) but there is no dock in there yet.

What pier is that? Did they redo the first pier when you are coming in from the south? I think it had picnic tables on it?

Yes that’s the one. Right across from the court house.

They made it a lot longer and bigger last year. I think they put some docks along it too, but I haven't actually gotten my ass out there to check it out yet.

Here's the forecast for today:

A 10 percent chance of rain after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

Actually that looks pretty good for shore/pier fishing at Tawas. Better than tomorrow with more of an offshore wind.

Hit Oscoda again this morning for a couple hours. Bitter cold 23 degrees when I launched33 when I quit. Had to contend with a little skim ice early until the waves built. Warmest surface water I found was 33. No fish or hits and marked very little. Still just one dock in.
