i'd use a pig ang jig or just the jig alone and fish it SLOW.Bass will still be near bottom unless it's sunny.Sometimes you can see them soaking up some sun near the surface.
During the spring a 4" Senco will work great in white,Wartermellon or pumpkinseed.
If all elese fails try a suspending jurkbait pausing up to 30 seconds between twitches,The fish will still be slow in the ponds so fish anything slow.
Good luck.

Yeah, bass are out of season and I can't see how it would be worth risking a ticket. Besides that, bass get the hell pounded out of them during the open season. Maybe you could give them some much needed rest during the off season.

At the same time, we have a great season for Spring steelies starting, and the catfish are starting to bite.

You anglers who would like more legal bass fishing, I've posted the actual Michigan DNR catch-and-release study on my website that said way back in 1992 that more lakes could be added.

We need to take some pressure off the 6 lakes by adding more. The season won't go away. There's too much scientific support fo it. I'm working hard to do get the changes made. Check out the study results and keep in touch with me. I'll be finishing my letter to the MDNR soon and they'll hopefully release their 'secret' recommendations a little later this year.

That's when bass anglers who want more legal bass fishing can get involved. It won't take a lot. Maybe some letters. Maybe attending a meeting here or there to vote in support.

There are bass anglers against a change. Most have never actually read a study or talked to different fish biologists about this in any detail, but they aren't really the big challenge. The bass angler support is huge for this now.

The biggest challenge will be lake association members depending on how the eventual public meetings are set up and/or if it does go through the legislature as it may have to. They are always the real challenge when it comes to getting the public more fishing opportunity or access once a majority of anglers are in favor of something. Thanks for your time.
