Just some sugar beet information

Sugar plant sweetens profit
Monitor Township facility installs $30 million system to increase production

The process and technology — invented by Amalgamated Research Inc. of Twin Falls, Idaho — uses a technology called chromatography to remove sugar from molasses.

Feeding molasses through the new system gives Monitor Sugar not only additional sugar product, but two other products called CMS (concentrated molasses solids) and betaine, a more valuable animal feed than molasses.

Rhoten said the sugar company can get anywhere from $40 to $80 for a ton of
molasses, while the company can get about $200 a ton from the three products it gets from the molasses de-sugarization process.
